X10 Wireless - RF Protocol

I've used X10 for two decades. They are fairly cool, to me, and I much prefer them over the newer stuff (IoT).

I have the little injector box for sending my own signals over the power lines, and did a few school projects with it, but, for the mos part, I just used the stock X10 modules. One thing I'd like is my own security system. Maybe one day I'll do a ZigBee system. But for now, lets see if we can do something with what we have.

This site interested me.

It listed the carrier at 300MHz. I've seen 310MHz quoted, too. So, lets figure it out!

The easy way is a frequency counter, but I don't have one that goes over 4MHz.. So, lets use cheap SDR!

We can see it transmitting around 310.3MHz, but it can also be seen walking around a bit. Using SDR#, that is a problem, but, not with a cheap receiver. It's a 315MHz model, but it looks like it can be slightly tuned.
